OpenPlant PID Help

Select Multiple Components

By default, when you select multiple components in a drawing, only the graphical components are selected, such as pipe runs, instruments etc., and not the parent (or logical) groups such as pipelines, instrument loops, and assemblies.

If you view the selection set in the Element Info dialog, you will see only the graphical components are listed.

As you can see, none of the parent pipelines are included in the selection.

If you want to add the logical groups to the selection set, select the Select Parent(s) Advanced option from the pop-up menu.

When you select this option, the Select Parents dialog displays allowing you to determine which parent groups to include in the selection.

SettingDescription
Parent Name of the logical group to select.
Component Lists the selected component associated with the logical group.
Check All Checks all of the logical groups listed.
Uncheck All Unchecks all of the logical groups listed.
Select Adds the selected logical groups to the selection set.

Select which parent group(s) to include in the selection set then click Select to add.

The selected items will be added to the Element Info dialog.

Select Assemblies

If you select components belonging to an assembly and select the Select Parent(s) Advanced option, the dialog will display as shown:

If pipelines/pipe runs were included in the assembly, then the pipeline logical groups are listed for selection. Additionally, all of the assembly component are listed as well.

Note: If you have selected a single component belonging to an assembly, you will have the option to use the Select Parent Assembly to add the logical components to the selection set. The logical groups will be added to the Element Info dialog automatically and you will not be prompted with the Select Parents dialog shown above.
